#1 ECG lead separation in Viewer

When viewing ECGs at standard 10mm/mV, each lead is separated by only 10mm.
This leads to significant QRS overlap, even in the presence of "normal" QRS amplitude, and makes interpretation difficult.
The separation should be at least 20mm (if not 30mm). If this requires scrolling to view all leads, this is still preferable to the current situation.
Otherwise, this is an excellent piece of software.

Sorry - to clarify - this is FDA ECG (xml) format ECG, using "Regular" view.
For some reason, only "Regular" and "Average Complex" are available formats for viewing. Is this specific to the ECG format, or the program?

When using the ECG Viewer in Regular mode the separation of leads is influenced by the available screen size. So when you use the display at higher resolution the separation between leads will increase.

Is there an explanation for why the other views are unavailable on these ECGs?

Currently the application performs a check for standard ECG. It consists of two elements:
    - Are the twelve standard leads included
    - Is the ECG less then 10 seconds long.

First place there might be a bug in this check. Othersides it will currently exclude 15 leads children ECG and (properly labeled) right-side ECGs. I should propably improve to check include the right-side ECGs. To support the 15 leads children ECGs will require quite some addiotonal development.

In which case, I think there may be a bug. These ECGs are stndard configuration 12-lead from a Philips Trim 3, converted to FDA using Philips own converting tool. It appears they are 10seconds, standard ECGs to me.

Well its XML you can remove the Demographic info (keep the XML structure) and then you can attach that file to this issue. I will try to take a look at the file. Will probably turn in to a bug report and I will try to fix it ASAP.

Tried to create a bug report, but can't upload a 348k xml file (ECG). Also, changing the lead separation in the regular view would be a nice option - perhaps a future feature request?

Uploaded FDA xml file to http://drop.io/wmhhgg1/asset/philipstrimexample-fda-xml
Hope you can access OK. Many thanks.

Ok thanks, I will add the bug to the tracker.

  • MJB van Ettinger

Oh I see what the issue is. The added calibration puls makes the file longer then the 10 seconds I check for. Well should be an easy fix.

About the converted Philips files I solved the issue. So now these files can be viewed in the standard formats. Do you want me to provide you with a build of the (changed) executables or can you build them yourself from AnonymousCVS? Because the next release might be a couple of months away.

    Thanks for resolving.
I would certainly appreciate pre-compiled executables, since my attempts at building with mono have been unsuccessful.

If providing executables is time consuming, then don't worry. I'm happy with the current functionality for a couple of months - I can wait til the next release. Thanks again.

Sorry for the delayed response, but I already made a small patch for both .NET1.1 and .NET2.0 of the application (including only two assemblies). Both should now also work on Linux with mono. I will post a link on monday so you can download them.
