Should it be that people who want to compile the application use the
classes provided by their appserver/servlet engine? Just to be on the
safe side?

One anomaly is including servlet.jar in the distribution. I have to keep
remembering to delete it. Given that it's a fairly safe assumption that
we already have a servlet.jar (or equivalent), does it need to be in the
distribution?


We need it when compile. But I agree that we can exclude it when making
war file.
