Hello everyone, I've been trying to send a message from ebmail to hermes 2 and I always come up with the following message error: <INFO> <cecid.ebms.spa> <Found 1 message(s) in mail box> <INFO> <cecid.ebms.spa> <Received an ebxml message from mail box> <ERROR> <cecid.ebms.spa> <*Unauthorized message, no principal id*> .. Can anyone tell me what's the reason for this error to show up? I also would like to ask if anyone can clearify for me if ebmail has some hermes embedded and if it's version 1 or 2? Could this error be due to the different versions? Thanx a lot. |

Dear Open Source developer I am doing a research project on "Fun and Software Development" in which I kindly invite you to participate. You will find the online survey under http://fasd.ethz.ch/qsf/. The questionnaire consists of 53 questions and you will need about 15 minutes to complete it. With the FASD project (Fun and Software Development) we want to define the motivational significance of fun when software developers decide to engage in Open Source projects. What is special about our research project is that a similar survey is planned with software developers in commercial firms. This procedure allows the immediate comparison between the involved individuals and the conditions of production of these two development models. Thus we hope to obtain substantial new insights to the phenomenon of Open Source Development. With many thanks for your participation, Benno Luthiger PS: The results of the survey will be published under http://www.isu.unizh.ch/fuehrung/blprojects/FASD/. We have set up the mailing list fa...@we... for this study. Please see http://fasd.ethz.ch/qsf/mailinglist_en.html for registration to this mailing list. _______________________________________________________________________ Benno Luthiger Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich 8092 Zurich Mail: benno.luthiger(at)id.ethz.ch _______________________________________________________________________ |

Dear Friends of ebXML, Your interest and support for Hermes (based on OASIS' ebMS v2 standards) and ebMail in the past 18 months have helped them gain acceptance. Hermes has recorded 5400+ downloads from 50+ regions/countries since its debut in http://www.freebxml.org in Sep 2002, while ebMail has 2500 downloads since Jun 2003. We are conducting a structured user satisfaction survey, and hope you could give us your feedback to better serve your needs. Data collected will also be used for reporting to our funding agency of the Hong Kong Government. The questionnaire is accessible in http://www.cecid.hku.hk/questionnaire/. It should take approximately 10 minutes to complete. Your submission of the online questionnaire *before APRIL 16* is highly appreciated. Thank you in advance for your participation. Regards, -Patrick |

To add one more point: although in the current version ebMail does not = support reliable messaging, we are implementing a "receipt" mechanism in = ebMail. Hi Anthony, Does this problem happen after you implement the "save" method? Or it always happens? I guess the problem may be in the DocumentData.load(EbxmlMessage) method. Hi Simon, Thanks for your answers. now we know the development status of ebMail. I got weird problem. When I close ebMail, then open it again, the message cannot be displayed/browsed again. What I did is I added a method to save the xml into file in "BrowseController" class. in short: root = poInfo.toElement(); ostream = new ByteArrayOutputStream(); xmlOutputter.output(new Document(root), ostream); and then using PrintWriter to write the stream into file. I can see the message file is still in "ebMail/messages" folder. Thanks for your help. anthony Simon Lee wrote: > Hi Anthony, > > My answers below, in blue. > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "Anthony Karta" <an...@al... > <mailto:an...@al...>> > To: <ebm...@li... > <mailto:ebm...@li...>> > Sent: Thursday, October 16, 2003 12:11 PM > Subject: Re: [ebmail-general] Re: ebmail-general -- confirmation of > subscription -- request 276811 > > > Hi Simon, > > Thank for your promptly reply. > > > > I didn't setup properly before. Hi Simon, Thank for your promptly reply. I didn't setup properly before. What I got now is "invalid key store or password". the signature is DH/DSS, generated by PGPkey freeware. does ebMail only supports digital signature generated by java's keytool? I've tried java's keytool and it works fine. But I'm wondering, should the other end (seller in Purchase scenario) have public key and its own private key to authenticate the message? is there any documentation regarding ebMail? like simple thing, how to change the default size of window "compose message"? Thanks again, anthony Simon Lee wrote: > Hi Anthony, > > EbMail 1.0 and 1.01 supports digital signature for java keystore. Hi Anthony, EbMail 1.0 and 1.01 supports digital signature for java keystore. You should use java's keytool utility to generate the keystore, and then specify the keystore location in the Settings->Advance Settings pane. When generating the keystore, please use the same password for the keystore and the key. It is difficult to say when will get the "can't get certificate path" error. Could you give me more details on your digital signature setup? (e.g. what keystore you are using, the key signing algorithm, etc) Currently ebMail don't have any functions to save the xml payload. We will consider adding it in our future release. However plugin developers could implement this feature as an "Extend Function". When implementing the "Browse Message Controller", the save payload function could be implemented in the getExtendActionNames and callExtendAction methods, which could be called when user browsing the sent messages. For details please refer to the plugin tutorial. If you still got any problem, please fell free to ask. Hi, I'm developing a new plug-in for ebMail (this time we just customized the poDemo) and it's cool... I want to know how to setup "Digital Signature" in ebMail, I got an error "can't get certificate path", is it explained somewhere in documentation? and how hard it is to configure ebMail, so we could save the XML data ("payload" tab in view message) into file server when send the message? thanks all anthony |

Hi Greg, Most of network settings are compulsory, as ebMail relies on them to = connect to your mail server (to send/receive messages). The Login Name = field under Incoming Server means your username to used to login the = incoming mail server. For example if you are using MS outlook, it is = analogous to the field "Account Name" (in my case would be kylee, or for = you it may be greg.elliott). As you can receive email, I guess you can = find out this name from your mail agent. As you are using binary distribution, it would be ok for you to send out = message once you have completed the mail server settings. If you still = have any question, please feel free to ask P.S. I will forward this mail to the ebmail mailing list Simon ----- Original Message -----=20 From: Simon Lee=20 To: ky...@ce...=20 Sent: Thursday, September 18, 2003 6:07 PM Subject: Re: Re: [ebmail-general] [Fwd: ebMail - Request for = Assistance in Set Hello Simon Your diagnosis and prognosis were spot on and I can now display the = correct character sets, so thanks for sorting that out. I've set up my mail server details under Settings, however, I'm not = sure what is required against "Login Name" under "Incoming Server". Is = this information optionaI?, and if it isn't, do I need to get it from my = ISP? I'm going to experiment with sending some messages. If there's = anything else that I need to do before I can do this please let me know. = I'll probably come back to you post-experiment with some further = questions if that's OK? Regards Greg |

Hi Greg, My name is Simon, the developer of ebMail from CECID. Maybe there are = some points that we did not make it clear in the Setup guide. Let me try = to explain them one by one. Background I have a PC running Windows 98. I have downloaded and installed = j2re1.4.2.01 to a sub-directory Java within my Program Files directory. = I have also downloaded the ebMail Binary Distribution and unzipped it to = a sub-directory ebMail within my Program Files directory. (However, = there is only a single directory "ebmail" - I do not have "poPlugin"). -------------------------------------------------------------------------= ----- If you are downloading the binary distribution, it should be correct. = Actually the poPlugin has been already imported into ebMail. If you want = to build everything from the scratch, try it with the source = distribution. -------------------------------------------------------------------------= ----- Running ebMail What do I need to do in order to run ebMail from Windows? I've tried = opening the batch file EBMAIL.BAT, but I get an input screen populated = with identical rectangular symbols (control characters?) and some zeros. = Do I need to do anything else within the JRE in order to run the = application?. -------------------------------------------------------------------------= ----- I am not sure what this problem is about. The EBMAIL.BAT is basically = a simple batch file containing one line - "java -jar ebmail.jar". = Therefore you may try to open a command prompt, navigate to the = directory where you have extracted ebmail (e.g. C:\Program = Files\ebMail), and then type java -jar ebmail.jar. If Java JRE has been = installed on your machine successfully, this command should invoke and = run ebMail. If you get no luck from the above command, and windows is complaing = something like "java is not recognized as internal command...", it means = that you have not add java.exe into your runtime PATH. You may try the = following command instead - "<directory where you have installed JRE = e.g. C:/Progran Files/j2re1.4.2.01>\bin\java -jar ebmail.jar" -------------------------------------------------------------------------= ----- Patch I also understand that I need to carry out a patch. (Again, I haven't = done this before). Where do I need to create the directory = $JAVA_HOME/jre/lib/endorsed? (and is the $ symbol correct?). I have = located a file XALAN in the directory ebmail\lib - is this the correct = file to copy into the new directory? -------------------------------------------------------------------------= ----- The $JAVA_HOME means the directory where you have installed your JRE = or JDK (e.g.C:/Progran Files/j2re1.4.2.01). That means you have to = create a directory "endorsed" under C:/Progran = Files/j2re1.4.2.01/jre/lib/, and place the xalan.jar (yes, the one you = have mentioned) into the "endorsed" directory. -------------------------------------------------------------------------= ----- If you have any problem, please feel free to ask, especially in this = mailing list. We and other developers are always willing to help! |
