Hello, would you please write also the command that you have issues, and also attach the subtitle files you are using? If they are publicly available in the Internet you may just write the URL.

Please also try the 0.5 version, I have now set it as a default for download

    Hello,
Thanks for your answer. I used 0.5 version and message changed :

    C:\Program Files\Easyjasub>easyjasub.exe -ja test.srt
    Processing test
    Japanese subtitles file: test.srt
    CSS file: test_easyjasub/html/test.css
    HTML intermediate directory: test_easyjasub/html

    Japanese text file: test_easyjasub/test.txt
    BDN XML file: test_easyjasub/test.xml

    IDX file: test.idx*
    onReadJapaneseSubtitlesStart C:\Program Files\Easyjasub\test.srt
    onReadJapaneseSubtitlesEnd C:\Program Files\Easyjasub\test.srt
    onWriteOutputJapaneseTextFileStart C:\Program Files\Easyjasub\test_easyjasub\tes
    t.txt
    onWriteOutputJapaneseTextFileEnd C:\Program Files\Easyjasub\test_easyjasub\test.
    txt
    onReadTranslatedSubtitlesSkipped <null>
    onLuceneParseStart
    onLuceneParseEnd

    easyjasub-cmd 0.5.0 http://easyjasub.sourceforge.net built on 2014-07-28
    Execution error:
Could not get any valid dictionary!

    My command was :
    easyjasub.exe -ja test.srt

I try to attach my srt file.

Thanks for the details, there are actually a couple of issues with easyjasub:
    - the test.srt file is not read correctly, I have opened it with Aegissub and saved in .ass format and that seems to avoid the issue
    - easyjasub incorrectly tries by default to add a dictionary translation, so it complains about missing JMDict file; please try adding "-d disabled" option, also use "-t disabled" option if you keep test.srt and test.ass in the same folder

I have tried now running the program this way
    easyjasub -t disabled -d disabled -ja test.ass
and here attached you can see the result

I will try to resolve these issues in next snapshot, please let me know if now you can successfully try easyjasub. It is still some kind of alpha level java programming exercise...

    Hello Riccardo

Thanks for all your advice, your application is nearly working on my computer.
(The html file "test.html" is very encouraging !!!)

I used your test.ass file but there is still one last problem with .xml generation ...
It seems it's not generating png files after having successfully generated html files for each subtitle line in /html directory.

    C:\Program Files\Easyjasub>easyjasub -t disabled -d disabled -ja test.ass
    Processing test
    Japanese subtitles file: test.ass
    Translated subtitles file: test.srt
    CSS file: test_easyjasub/html/test.css
    HTML intermediate directory: test_easyjasub/html

    Japanese text file: test_easyjasub/test.txt
    BDN XML file: test_easyjasub/test.xml

    IDX file: test.idx*
    onReadJapaneseSubtitlesStart C:\Program Files\Easyjasub\test.ass
    onReadJapaneseSubtitlesEnd C:\Program Files\Easyjasub\test.ass
    onWriteOutputJapaneseTextFileStart C:\Program Files\Easyjasub\test_easyjasub\tes
    t.txt
    onWriteOutputJapaneseTextFileEnd C:\Program Files\Easyjasub\test_easyjasub\test.

    onReadTranslatedSubtitlesStart C:\Program Files\Easyjasub\test.srt
    onReadTranslatedSubtitlesEnd C:\Program Files\Easyjasub\test.srt

    onWriteXmlFileStart C:\Program Files\Easyjasub\test_easyjasub\test.easyjasub
    onWriteXmlFileEnd C:\Program Files\Easyjasub\test_easyjasub\test.easyjasub

    onWriteJGlossFileEnd C:\Program Files\Easyjasub\test_easyjasub\test.jgloss
    onWriteCssStart C:\Program Files\Easyjasub\test_easyjasub\html\test.css
    onWriteCssEnd C:\Program Files\Easyjasub\test_easyjasub\html\test.css

    onWriteImagesEnd C:\Program Files\Easyjasub\test_easyjasub

There is actually an other problem in the image generation; html files are replaced with corresponding .png files, will you please try the other image generation method, installing the wkhtmltoimage program http://wkhtmltopdf.org/downloads.html ?

easyjasub searches it in its default installation folder, otherwise please use the --wkhtmltoimage option

hopefully this will resolve everything, otherwise please post the output with --verbose option

don't forget to delete all generated files if you have errors, if you run again the command, existing generated files are not replaced but used for subsequent phases of the processing

    Hello Riccardo

Thanks, now easyjasub works perfectly on my computer with -wk option !!!
One last thing I wanted to ask you : I have some japanese DVD for which I would like to transform kanji subtitles in Furigana with your application. Would you know a good OCR program to do that ? I have searched for some weeks without finding anything until now.

    Thanks for all

I am happy that it works now, I will close the ticket once I manage to fix the incorrect behaviors that you experienced.

As for subtitles, I am sorry but I don't know. I have always relied in sections of video for which I could find free subtitles already in text format on the web.

I will continue searching for an OCR program, thanks for all your answers.
I'll send you a new ticket if I find something interesting.

I have released a 0.6 version with fixes to the defects you notified in this ticket:
    - reading the original test.srt now works, the issue was caused by a BOM marker in the file
    - dictionary file is not required unless found or explicitly specified with -d option
    - a warning is issued if wkhtmltoimage is not found, unfortunately I am having issues in making the html to png rendering libraries work
