I am using a Mac with Sonoma. I understand the pstopdf file has been removed by Apple. One of the strongest features of EasyABC for me has been the ability to create incipits. I can no longer do so. Is there a work around? Are changes planned to make that feature available again on a Mac?
According to
https://github.com/aupfred/EasyABC/releases/tag/EasyABC_v1.3.8.7-Mac_20240107
This version would use GhostScript to create a pdf file. I assume ps2pdf is
still on Ghostscript and has not been removed.
You can get this version from either this github, or sourceforge.
I do not have a mac to try it out, but I have created pdf files using
GhostScript on my Windows PC.

Thank you for trying to help Seymour. I've looked at the link you provided. I am a user, not a programmer and have no idea of how to install and make Ghostscript work for me. If I install Ghostscript, will EasyABC automatically find and use it or will I have to write some sort of code to make it all work? Im sorry, but I've enjoyed using incipits for years and find it a tremendous loss.
I think that the install from Frederic Aupepin may come with GhostScript.
If you have been using EasyABC before on your system it is possible that
GhostScript is already there; however, I am not sure about the Mac.
The Settings/ABC Settings... leads you to a window which looks like
the attached gif file, after selecting the top File Settings command.
On the Mac, the file locations will be different.
Since I do not have a Mac, I cannot give you much more help. Perhaps
you could contact Frederic Aupepin who looks after the Mac install
for more information -- or anyone else who runs EasyABC on that system.
If EasyABC cannot save the output as a pdf file on your system, it
should still be able to save it as an html or svg file which is easy
to display using any browser. You may find an application which can
convert it to a pdf file.

You can also post a message on the abcusers group for more

Hi, I am with Somona as well,
to avoid this problem, I loaded both version:
1- renaming the "Werner Schoenfeldinger" version to EasyABCtest in my MAC. This way, I got a version giving me the capability to access "Parameters" ( which I cannot with the "Frederic Aubepin" version, The command menu is there but no reaction. (cannot play chords)
2- The Frederic Aubepin version for which I kept the name EasyABC, I have acces to all printing PDF capabilities.
It would be nice that those two MAC versions been reconciliated.
Another way to access printing and chords is to use the Michael Eskin's ABC tool, a web app very cool. You copy paste your ABC text in and you can listen, print, incipit, etc.
