I've been using EasyABC for several years and find it the simplest and best music notation program of several I've tried, especially for generating simple, single-melody-line scores with simple chord symbols for Irish and other traditional music idioms. A few days ago, I started editing a tune and was surprised that letters A, E, H, I, and O don't appear when I type them--upper and lower case alike. I downloaded the current version and installed it; When that didn't work, I uninstalled and reinstalled the program. No improvement. I've grown to depend on this program. None of the alternative comes close to it's functionality for my needs. My laptop's a few years old, so a hardware issue is possible, but the problem seems unique to EasyABC. Any ideas?

I think I stumbled upon the answer: Check your Settings > ABC typing assitance > "Do-re-mi mode (experimental)". If that's turned on, choose the menu item to toggle it off. When I have that turned on, I can't type the letters you mention.

I got that problem some times ago and I think that I got rid of it by resetting the EasyABC parameters, but don't remember exactly.
Ac I just found now this discussion, I checked both on Mac (my main OS - Easy ABC 1.3.7.7. with High Sierra for now) and on Windows (EasyABC 1.3.8 with Win 10) and the same problem on both OS when Do-Re-Mi Mode is activated.
On MacOS, the keyboard shortcut (Cmd + D) doesn't work, but actually it happenned when I set Do-Re-Mi Mode on, but I did'nt make the relation at that time.
But on Windows, the keyboard shortcut "CTRL+D" works, and so, a bad keys stroke can easily be done while writing which can switch that Mode on.
