Hello Dean, To answer your question: Yes but I don't know why Follow
Score is not working for you. It was made with the Windows version and
last time I checked it worked on Linux too. And I don't have a mac to
test it. Perhaps you can tell which version of EasyABC you use and what
operating system it is running on?

Please add more details what exactly happens.
From your first post I understood that the played notes don't get highlighted.
When you play a longer score that does not fit into the window, does it scroll the score to make the played part visible?
When you start easyabc from a terminal/shell, do you get any error messages?

If I play a longer score the page does turn. I just don’t get the highlighted note. I don’t know what happens when starting from a terminal/shell because I don’t know how to do that.

Just downloaded 1.3.8.7. Very happy to see the black page is fixed and the musical notation glyphs are back. Thanks.
I have maybe the same problem with the Follow Score command.
1) the progress bar does not move. You can slide it manually with the mouse, but it does not move.
2) with following turned on the highlighted note seems to be about a measure behind the sound of the note.
Thanks. Jan Wybren, for all the work you are doing on this program, which is the best abc editor.

Glad you like it. It has been a while since the last release but never
got the time to release it. But I'm also glad that black page bug has
finally been fixed.
1) Using FluidSynth (if you use a soundfont) there is a glitch that when
the music has ended de slider has no effect. So if you slide and you
reach the end, the music is over and sliding is ignored after that.
Might that be the same thing you are experiencing? If you have not have
specified a soundfont in the ABC settings then it probably is something
else.
2) Hold Shift and press the slider next to (to the right) of the Follow
Score check box. Or use the slider to compensate for the difference. The
old sound system was always laggy. But using FluidSynth I don't have
that problem anymore.
If you search for Scc1t2.sf2 on google you will stumble accross that
sound font (and probably others with better sound). If you download it
and specify it in the ABC Settings -> File Settings it might help.
Best regards,
Jan Wybren

I found the solution. I had been investigating different gchord patterns. When I opened Settings>ABCsettings>abc2midi I found the gchord setting was empty. The lagging problem was fixed when I typed in "default" or one of the possible suggested settings.
But when I close the Settings window and go back to it, what I had typed in is now blank again. This didn't happen with the previous version 1386
I see that the sound font is set to SGM-V2.01.sf2.

I have the Follow Score checkbox checked and have the Highlight color set to red but it doesn't show during playback.
Is there "one more button" I need to check?
I have closed and reopened the app but it persists.
Love Love LOVE this project and your hard work. Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.
Does anyone actually read these posts?

Thanks for checking into it.
