Hi, we are trying to extract the 2d images from an E57 that we know has images in because they are there when opened in ReCap. However the GetImage2DCount() call returns zero. We also tried the XML dump (attached), and that too showed no 2d Images. But other programs can find and extract the spherical images. Is there another way 360 Spherical Images can be stored in an E57 file?
Thanks.
Hi Phil,
Yes, the xmlDump.txt shows that an RGB value is stored with every lidar
point. Creating a jpeg or png would have to be done by the reader of the
E57.

#55Hi Stan,
Thank you so much for your reply. I really appreciate it.
I have attached some screen grabs of the 360 image view from Recap. To me they seem to clear to have been generated from the points. Plus you can see artifacts left over from the stitching of the images. The sky also looks to real.
If you are interested here is a link to the e57s themselves.

Its a complete mystery how other packages are able to extract these 360 images, when all the tests we can do, show us that there are no images.
Many thanks again for your help.
Phil
