ok, i may be a total moron.. i am using Gaim v0.46, i moved e2.so to the directory with the rest of my Gaim plugins. when i try to load the plugin i get an error that says "libdb3.so.3: cannont open shared object filr: No such file or directory". i have the file in question in my /usr/lib folder and i copied it to the same directory as e2.so and i still get the error. help would be appreciated.

I also had this error message when I tried to load the e2 plugin (v1.1). I ended up softlinking to (the prexisting) /usr/lib/libdb.so.3 which allowed me to load and use the plugin successfully. No new crashes so far.
I am using gaim-0.59.1-2 on Redhat 7.2 i386.
