E*Reminders 0.93 released!

This release permits htaccess user authentication to the software. Regular E*Reminders authentication still persists, but the .93 series of E*Reminders permits either method of user authentication.

E*Reminders 0.92.2 released!

This release addresses all remaining bugs in the tracker.

June 13, 2005: Roland Krystian Alberciak <krystian@mindspring.com>

-Merged core elements of David Rose's patches. The only thing NOT
merged is to permitting authentication over htaccess.
-Few minor usability adjustments in this release, namely the ability
to easily permit the E*Reminders to run in a timezone different
than user and have user experiance no problems (you can try to
set a default timezone to be presented to you that differs from the
timezone E*Reminders is installed in)
-- Variable $dbtzcorrect is removed and replaced by two variables:
$dbtzoffset, server timezone $defaulttz, timezone presented to
users (the idea is this may be different than $dbtzoffset)
-Removed the .htaccess file from the directory in this installation.
-- Don't want to override the behaviour of a parent directory
htaccess file.
-Fixed problem with scheduling reminders at 12:00 AM/PM
--Warning message issued to user about scheduling reminders at
noon or midnight. This is intended to inform users about possible
dangers when scheduling reminders at these times. This is
particularly because the interface does not permit scheduling a
reminder at an option named as "noon" or "midnight" (instead, the
interface is limited to 12:00 PM/AM which are misleading terms and
could introduce unintended slips)

Hey guys,

Here's the source. I've named it 0.92.1 since it's a revision to the
multilingual version (probably best to assume the multilingual version would
be the 0.92 version).

I've tested this over the past month and have found some more bugs that I
corrected, namely wrong text being pasted in during pulling text from the
translation files. I fixed some timezone problems that were present since
the previous version but have no way to test the software except at EST.... read more

History of E*Reminders

Late one night Jim Suto (jim@amazinglinux.com) was awake and started thinking that since e-mail is becoming so widely used these days, it would be nice to have a way that a system can provide notifications and reminders via this medium. Especially if you have a cellphone equipped with email capability this could be a very handy.

He told Ben Suto of the idea and Ben thought it would make sense to code the interface in PHP. Ben put together the script a couple of days later and Ben and Jim tested it and we were really happy with the result. Jim later also refined the code himself somewhat and gave Ben the ok to make it GPL and release it. ... read more
