Perl scripts often have no extensions on Unix machines,
intended to be run as programs. Presently, there is no
way to open such a file in the EPIC editor (that I can
find). It would be nice if EPIC showed up in the "Open
With" menu for these files.

First of all, there is distinction between Bugs and RFE
    (Request for Exentsion [or similar]).

Next Eclipse already provide this option:

Preferences -> Workbench -> File Associations

With this you can deal in your own way as you like.

Just fyi, eclipse don't allow to set up a default editor without
extension even using this new feature called "File
    Associations". (i.e. must contain .ext)

I know it may be an eclipse platform issue but is really
important for me, there is any trick you know to accomplish
    this?
