#1 resizing sometimes doesn't work

A window with multiple terminal pages sometimes does
not have it's size property set correctly, which
prevents the window from being shrunk (ie, it thinks
that its size is 1x1). This is probably just a WM hint
that isn't being set right. A work around is just to
open then close another tab.

it seems that the way that I set window-manager hits is all
wrong. Which means I need to research all that stuff... *sigh*
