Hi Andrew, While Raymond gets up and running, could you send your files to my e-mail at jha...@ch.... I would love to see your work! Have you tried to do SODA-RPC to a database yet? I'm having some troubles with server-side objects. Any advice you could give connecting to MySQL or Access would be greatly appreciated. Hello Everyone, For the past couple of weeks I've been very busy and was not able to reply to many of the questions about SODA or widgets. DynAPI IMO requires full time support to which I'm not financially capable of doing just yet. I'll be returning to the SODA-RPC and widgets activities within a few weeks so please don't loose hope. We'll make it even better! Best regards, -- Raymond Irving |

I got the SODA-RPC example of the calculator up and running and then tried to hijack the fraction function to query a database and return results. <script runat="server" language="javascript"> function fraction(input) { var rs = server.CreateObject("ADODB.Recordset"); return ("Hi"); // Other code would normally follow in this section rather than the return ("Hi") to query a database and return results } </script> I changed the webservice wsAddMethod to expect a string return value for the fraction function. If one runs the above script, an error dialog box pops up (only when clicking the fraction button, all of the other buttons work fine) which states: System Error: [Object Error] while executing 'fraction()'. To retry the request, click the OK button. My attempt to create a Recordset Object on the server (and subsequently query a database) is sending the SODA-RPC code into stasis. How does one access a database (using ODBC or JDBC) while using SODA-RPC? Is the code actually accepting the runat="server" request (the normal 'fraction()' function works fine within this request) or is this the source of my problem? Should I be accessing a database using SODA-RPC or should I be using some other technology? Any help that can be provided would be greatly appreciated! Andrew Gillett mentioned on 2003-11-11 that he had created a server-side Java version of the SODA-RPC component using servlet technology. Just to verify, does the servlet interact with a client-side JVM or are JVM-less environments supported? Have the questions surrounding where/how to distribute this server-side Java version been resolved? Where can I get a copy of these files? I'm very excited to see this in action! António, For Dynapi 3, there's an example in the examples folder: dynapi3x/examples/dynapi.api.mouseevent.html it looks complicated, but take a look at the source, that should help. you should be able to do something like this: var botao1 = new DynLayer(20,2,50,150,20,false); botao1.setClass ('menu-off'); botao1.setHTML('<table width=100% border=0 ceppadding=0 cellspacing=0><tr><td>test</td></tr></table>') var mouseEvents = {}; mouseEvents.onmouseover = function(e) { var sourceLayer = e.getSource(); alert(sourceLayer.id); } botao1.addEventListener(mouseEvents); I didn't actually run that, but if it doesn't work, it should be pretty close. Hi folks! I have a huge problem with some frameset and pages on diffrent domains. And I thought of you all who are really really good at JS :) Case: We have one frameset at www.test.se witch includes a js-file from kalle.test.se. So long it works fine. the js-include from kalle.test.se have a coupple of links and one link opens a popup from kalle.test.se. In this popup there is a link to one other page at kalle.test.se, the problem here is that the link should be opened in the middle frame called "main" on the www.test.se frameset. We get a permission denied when doing this, even if we call a function that resides on www.test.se that we call. Is there any way to go around this that you can think of? best regards Daniel |

Well in IE 5 for mac the problem is vice versa, if you have a text that lays on a layer, and the layer is "linked" the text will block the mouse events over the text. So here you will need to use a layer with text ontop of that layer. Regards Daniel > !!!!!!!!!!! Performance of dragging and resizing this layer-with-iframe went to crap on Mozilla when I add that extra claer gif though, so I had to add a check and only add the clear gif code for IE. Mozilla doesn't seem to resize images very well, things gets choppy. Everything is working well though, thanks again. IE doesn't consider a layer to 'be there' unless there's content on it, as far as I have seen. A simple work-around would be to place a clear, 1 pixel by 1 pixel image, in the cover layer and stretch it to the layers width and height. Hope that helps... I'm not sure if this is really on topic, but you guys know the most about this stuff, so I thought you might be able to help out. I have layer A, which has an iframe on it. I don't want people to be able to click on the website in the iframe at certain times, so I need to make a clear cover layer over it. To do this, I added layer B as a child of A, and it covers it completely. In Mozilla - works great, you can see the page in the iframe, but nothing is clickable. Here's the problem: In IE - if I make the cover layer a color, then I only see the color, and I can't click anything that it's covering, even when I click where a link would normally be on the page below, so far so good. But when I change the color of the cover layer to "transparent", then it's like it's not there. I can click right through it to the page below. Any ideas how to make a clear cover layer in IE? Or is there someway to make an iframe "view only" ? Thanks in advance for the suggestions, Jesse |

Thanks for that. I'll download v3.0 and take a look at the examples. I have a large web page, you have to use both scrollbars on the browser window to get to all the content. I want to fix the first column so that it always stays on the left-hand side, but allow scrolling to the rest of the content. This would mean that scrolling up and down scrolls both regions (left and right hand sides) and scrolling down and right would just scroll the right-hand side. ....does this make sense...? Anyway, I can see how I could do this using dynapi but before I dive in a do it I was wondering if anyone had tried anything like this before.
