Apparently my first post contained inadequate information. Attached isi the dvds file. The SAME file stopped working. I opened and edited for content, menu content, etc on a different computer. Mac OS, Catalina made the one that worked fine. The first time the menu buttons froze was on the one created on my M1 running Monterey. THEN the same issue happened on the Catalina version. Don't know if it's a corrupt shared system resource because ALL dvds files do it now on 3 different Mac computers. Creates the ISO file fine but then the buttons do nothing on the main menu screen so I can't navigate the disc. Hopefully this is better info. Someone will have to tell me where to find the log file for dvdstyler as I don't know. Attaching two versions of the same dvds file. I'm sure it's a setting somewhere. Thanks for any help you can give.
Mac users get what they deserve, Ha-ha-ha. Just teasing.
From what I can see, the second project has an error in the "Play all" button. Should be like the first project. Is that the one giving you trouble? Also look at the menu properties, (right click) on menu you have an entry in the Post command. Should be empty.
Hope that helps

Thanks. One was greyed out and couldn't be adjusted. I just used the one
with no issues as the template for a new project. I'm copying that for
subsequent versions needed. A video tutorial from someone who understands
all that would be fantastic. I hate the helpless feeling of not
understanding software, having to use it, and having nowhere to turn to
learn. Regardless, thanks again for your help!
It might have to do with the colors settings files from "all colors" to "8-bit". Something changed in the coding with macOS.
For Mac Users on Monterey, I process the DVD with v.3.2.1 first (becuae the menu does not work on v3.1 anymore). Then save the DVD project file "without" erasing the transcoded video files when the menu comes up (click 'No") when closing. Close out v.3.2.1.
Download v.3.1 and save that somewhere other than the application folder (so you now have version 3.2.1 AND 3.1). Don't change the app name. Now open the file you saved in 3.2.1 in 3.1. transcode the projecet again (as is) in v3.1 (it will quickly run - will skip transcoding the video again since it is done already and will process the menu and buttons correctly. . It will add the buttons again and the play menu(s) will now work. Sometimes transcoding errors come up if you just process the project without first processing it through v3.2.1.
My coding experience is minimal, and if I could...I would fix this so Mac users can use v.3.2.1. but I understand we have to wait for whomever the wonderful macOS coders of this great program update it, for it makes sense that you need to wait until Ventura is out first to do the once a year update.
If whomever works on the mac side of this program could fix this, we poor users would much appreciate it... But this is the only way for the program now to work on Monterey with the fast processing M1 chips. Better to go through all of this than nothing... :)
This is the best DVD program I have ever used (and I have used many) and hope the coders continue to update it!

Can you elaborate on "It might have to do with the colors settings files from "all colors" to "8-bit". Something changed in the coding with macOS."? Where is this information coming from?

Thanks for the link to your posts. All I know is that scanning the forums, I noticed a few other comments about the color setting files as I noticed the same issue with iDVD from Apple (discontinued years back). After MacOS Sierra iDVD became unuable, especially with the buttons. Once you changed the default button, after rendering in iDVD the buttons would disappear. This was close to the same issue with DVDstyler, so I thought maybe it might be simular.
I also thought it might be due to limited access now to root folders. If you use handbrake, you have to manually go into the root levels to give permission to add any files into lib folder. so I also thought maybe the issues has to do with the lockdown of system files. Hope that might help to find some solutions.
I also tried to replace a view files in the actual app v3.2.1 with some of v3.1 files to see if maybe that might work, but with no success. I do not know how to compile (tried to take the development version and messed around with it), for I have limited coding experience, but tried anyway.
Could you send us a link to your newer fixed version so we can test it out and give some suggestions if we can? I wish I was more of a programer..for I want to fix the mac version.
DVDstyler is one of my favorite programs and hope it can be fixed soon. Thanks for any help.

Copy *.dylib from the attached zip to /Applications/DVDStyler.app/Contents/libs (the current DVDStyler only contains newer versions of these libraries) and spumux to /Applications/DVDStyler.app/Contents/MacOS (backup the current spumux first, e.g. using: cp /Applications/DVDStyler.app/Contents/MacOS/spumux /Applications/DVDStyler.app/Contents/MacOS/spumux.orig).
If you have the same problem as me, this should fix it.
Hello,
I've just created my Sourceforge account only for this reply.
THANKS A TON for this answer.
I'm using Ventura, and had trouble with DVD menu/buttons not working, for days.
With your explanation and the files you attached, the menu works totally well.
Thank you so much @Johann H, I would give up using DVD Styler if I did't see your answer.

Thank you from me too. On an M1 MBP and using this software for the first time. Just couldn't get the buttons to work. Searched everywhere for up to date tutorials, when I came across this thread. Kinda nervous about messing with package files, but did it and it now works as I hoped it would. Have to say it is far better than the Mac app store offerings.

did a quick text....This worked!!!!! My custom buttons appeared again and work. Looks like it wasn't the color coding after all..
The only thing that crashes the program still (for my use) is if I add a file with a file name with multiple wording (spaces) or in a non-English text (unicode etc.). What I do to get around this issue is to just label (or rename) the files that I add instead with "01" ,"02", "03" etc. and it does not crash the app.
I can live with just renaming the added video files right now, since this major bug was fixed with your solution!
Thank you sooo much for the fix. This was a big relief!
I will contiune to test and see how it goes...

YES!!! This is often overlooked and is one of those un- explained errors and is soo easy to fix. One of the first projects I did was a bunch of French songs, with lots of é, è, à, û in the titles and more. I couldn't figure out why it kept failing since it was the same set up I had just used, but for English songs. Looking at the log I saw where it was stopping and a light went on. Try simplifying the titles. Chanson1, chanson 2, chanson 3... Success, and It hasn't crashed ever since. I always check the song titles for any strange character and remove them, even English titles.

I tried doing this but that just made it start spitting out an error after two seconds of transcoding.
I made a thread about this because I couldn't find any existing threads: https://sourceforge.net/p/dvdstyler/discussion/318795/thread/93c6652b8e/?limit=25 Someone replied and linked back to the thread we're on.
Now it does that anyway.

I too have wondered about seemingly random crashes. I guess if I wanted to keep the title, I could add _ between each word.
