When I installed (on XPsp3), I breezed past the toolbar install dialog, but caught myself and went back to specifically uncheck every box, and skip the toolbar install. Once DvdStyler installed, I proceeded to use it immediately. While I was setting up a DVD project, I saw my browser reboot, and that Immanent malware was installed anyway.
In my DVD project I was burning a small 150Meg m2v file, so I thought I would try the the CD (700MB) setting. My project built and previewed fine, but refused to burn to a CD. Should it? Once I inserted a DVD, it began the burn process, but the PC hung once the progress bar reached the end. After waiting 15 minutes, I did a hard reset.
The resulting DVD was not playable on 2 different XP boxes, or on a brand new Blueray player, but did play on a very old DVD player. I have no idea if the hangup is a valid bug, or if the hangup was caused by the malware. What I do know is that even after uninstalling the 2 obvious Immanent programs, and browser plugins, there were additional PUPs that still needed to be cleaned. It is hard to provide useful feedback when you bundle your hard work with unpredicatable malware.
