Hello,
I'd like to report a reproduceable "Unexpected-Stop-problem" and/or >An unhandled exception occurred ...< "crashing-problem" while generating complex menues with background movie clips.
I use DVDStyler vers2.6.1 and now vers2.7 on a win7-64bit sp1 system with 16GB memory.
A similar problem for MacOS was reported at: http://sourceforge.net/p/dvdstyler/bugs/468/#8c5d
1. problem: DVDStyler (both versions) reproduceably stops unexpectedly the 'just generating' process while creating the menues and filling the dvd-temp folder with the temp-files for the menues. Transcoding or multiplexing has not started then. The dvdlog-file says:
Generating menu 15 of 15
Create menu MPEG
Video duration: 24.000000 sec
Encoding frame 0 of 600
Error while writing video frame: Not enough space<Error creation of menu<
DVD structure: The relatively simple navigating structure then consists of 1 vmgm-menue and 7 titlesets with one title in each set. Menue 1 of each titleset is used as a 'dummy' only with a pre command: "jump title 1" (in order to react properly on the post-command in the preceding title). Titleset 1 consists of the mentioned 'dummy' menue 1, a menue 2 for choosing the subtitles and a menue 3 for choosing one of 5 episodes, which correspond to chapters 1-4 and 5-8 of title 1 in titleset 4, chapters 1-4 in title 1 of set 5, and so on, until titleset 7. These menues show a static background picture with loop-played 20 sec audio.
The titlesets 4 through 7 each contain the mentioned 'dummy' menue 1 and a further menue 2 for selecting one of four chapters (and in titleset 4 a similar identically structured menue 3, as the title contains 8 chapters). These - in total - five menues for selecting chapters are more complex: They show a 24 sec video-clip plus integrated audio (the same for all these five menues) as background and 4 chapter-buttons with a 24 sec chapter-videoclip each.
The dvd-temp folder was always emptied before generating was started, the double-layer DVD has enough free space (DVDStyler says 243 min of 263 at 8 MB/s), and the SSD-drive used for storing dvd-temp as well as for the dvd-folder, has more than 120 GB free space.
Experiments: Anyway, experimentally I found out: reducing the number of titlesets by one of the sets 1 2 or 3 or omitting one of the simpler menues did not at all change the behaviour of DVDStyler - it always stops reproduceably the process when generating the 5th ( the last) of the five complex menues with the a. m. text in log-file.
Only omitting one of the titlesets with one of these complex menues let DVDStyler perfectly run through the whole generating process, resulting in a well working dvd-folder.
2. problem: Thinking, that nevertheless a space problem might exist, I experimentally reduced the length of the titles, resulting in a DVD of only 28 min size, but left the navigation structure untouched with the following result in consequence.
DVDStyler reproduceably crashes, when generating the 5th ( the last) of the five complex menues, showing the following window:
An unhandled exception occurred. Press "Abort" ..., "Retry" ... and "Ignore" ...<
Only "Abort" gives a reaction (retry and ignore do nothing) and results in an other window:
This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way
Please contact the application's support team for more information.<
DVDStyler will be terminated.
3. Avoid crashing: Reduction of the complexity of the a. m. complex menues by replacing the video for the background by a static picture solves the problem, i. e. DVDStyler works perfectly through the whole generating process, also with all the titles in full length. OK - I can live with a static background for the chapter selection menue, but ...
It's a pity and rather annoying, not to be able to create more than four of these complex menues in a multiple titleset structure. Are there any experiences with these issues and/or a known solution or an explanation?
