Environment:
Windows 7 64bit
Generating a DVD with input files
- .ts files (DVB-T TV recordings) converted by streamclip SW to .mpg
- .mkv files (HD SAT recordings with 384kbit/s ac3 audio) converted by ffmpeg to .mpg (720 x 576 video, 192kbit/s mp2 audio).
In a Yamada DVD-Mi220X standalone player the sound of the ffmpeg files was strongly corrupted, but streamclip converted files played well. In a modern Pioneer BDP450 everything played well.
No cure could be achieved by playing with the ffmpeg cmdline parameters (ac3 instead of mp2 audio, ommitting the more sophisticated options) or going back to ffmpeg 2.1.1 or switching to mplex coder in DVDstyler or remuxing the streams with muxman.
Using GUI for DVDauthor with the same input files yielded in a DVD playing well also the ffmpeg converted files on the Yamada player.
Comparison of VTS_01_0.IFO file in both DVD with IFOEDIT revealed a difference in the audio properties table for the video titles in VTSI_MAT: quantisation was set to 20bit in the DVDstyler DVD and set to 16bit in the DVDauthor DVD.
Manual changing this entry to 16bit in the DVDstyler DVD ifo files and burning anew resulted in sound ok also for the Yamada player with the ffmpeg files.
