#25 Audio fast / Video slow

I've tried everything I can think of, and still the audio &
video are un-synched when I play back an avi I've ripped.
Badly mismatched. I _think_ it's actually that the video is
slow, and the audio is going at the appropriate speed . . .
but I'm not sure. Has anyone else experienced this? I'm
pretty sure I have the latest release & everything.

Can you provide more info, ie:

- which player are you using (QuickTime, MPlayer, VLC, etc...)
- what settings did you use to encode the movie
- how much RAM does your system have
- were you running any other apps at the time
