I sure would like to be able to put the five DVD's that my
kid constantly watches onto my Tivo. It would be tons
easier to start one up from the Now Playing list than to
hunt for the DVD change the inputs on the receiver and
navigate through all the menus. Does this sound
possible if I were to copy the DVD's to the computer
then have a new process chop up the video and add the
headers that are needed for Tivo?

Why not just pipe the DVD player output into Tivo's input,
play the DVD and hit the "Record" button on Tivo?

It would only have to be done once, and would probably take
about the same amount of time (if not slightly less!).
