#13 13.11 build fails on Ubuntu 14.04.2

Ubuntu 14.04.2
dvda-author source package 13.11.100 (from version.current file)
Since Ubuntu still uses make 3.81, I've built make 4.0 from source and installed to /usr/local/bin/make and passing this path to dvda-author's configure in the MAKE_PATH var.

I've done

./autogen
mkdir BUILD
cd BUILD
../configure --prefix=/usr/local --enable-all-all MAKE_PATH=/usr/local/bin/make
make

make fails with

/home/grant/dvda-author-dev/mk/sox.mk:13: *** recipe commences before first target. Stop.
