I still have a problem in 6.4.8, sent email to Sage.
Previous reply from Sage:
Michael,
I tried it two different machines with different versions of Sage (including the official current 6.4.8) and that file played fine in both of them. They also showed up under my Music section.
Sage just might need to be reindexed for it to pick up that file correctly.
As a test copy that file somewhere else and then rename the file. Then try to play that file using the browse media option in Sage. It has to be a different name.
If that works then try this. Close SageTV and the service and open up your Sage.properties file in the SageTV folder. Look for this line
force_full_content_reindex=false
Change it from false to true and restart Sage and let it reindex your imported media. It might take a while so give it some time before you shut Sage off.

Hi George,
I created such a file with a bit more than a minute footage and uploaded it under the name "Radio.ts".
Thanks and best regards,
Michael.

Michael,
An example file would be good. You will need an FTP program and you can upload it to york.dreamhost.com. The user is sagetemp and the password is
temp1234
Or you can just uploaded it to this link here.
ftp://sagetemp:temp1234@york.dreamhost.com/
Concerning your other email the developers are looking into it.
George

Hi George,
Another issue to solveJ
Some of the channels I record are radio channels. From Sage perspective, these are just plain TS files with only audio track included, no video.
Other media players play them fine. Sage is unable to play them. I get "NO SIGNAL" when I try to play them.
I can provide you with sample files and logs if needed.
Thanks and best regards,
Michael.

I also tried it with 6.4.8 - the official release, and I'm still experiencing a problem.
The file does play fine if imported to media library or just played via browsing media operation.
However, I created these files by recording, so they reside within SageTV recordings space. And when I try to play them back from there, I get the following error (this is the exact quote with exact wording and indentation):
There was a Playback Error in playback. Details:
sagePlaybackException: ERROR(-4,0
x80004005):There was a problem rendering the video portion of the content for playback.
So, the problem does exist.
Thanks and best regards,
Michael.

may be good idea to add empty video stream. (self generated with sync marks? )
