Excuse my english languaje, I'm not english native.
I make my backups in a Suse 7.2 and I mount some files of a Windows NT with a command like this :
mount -t smbfs -o //server2/Public /home/serverNT/Public
I know that dump is used in ext2 files, but, Are there some step to make possible the backup of a samba mounted file ?
Many thanks in advanced

I did a level-0 dump, followed by creating a directory, and mounting a windows-share over the LAN.
Then I did a level-1 dump (supposed to take all changes, and back them up), and it DID backup the directory to which the share was mounted, but not the data inside this directory.
So if someone could inform me, howto include remote files in a backup procedure, i'll like to know it.
Thnx in advance.

I was having the problem. What I did was mount the smb partition, then tared everything I wanted to someplace on my ext2 partition. Then I dumped that directory (with the tar file) to tape. It's a lot of steps, but it works for me.

Hi Clusis.
