Dear OpenDSS-G Support Team, I installed the OpenDSS-G software, and although it is properly installed and the shortcut appears on my computer desktop, when I click on it, a software window opens, but after that it does not run or execute.
    Thank you,

      Hello,

Interesting, I wonder if the problem has to do with local security measures (antivirus, firewall). I can see that you have version 6.5. Lets try by installing version 7. This version is not available at sourceforge but you can download it from here:

      https://drive.google.com/file/d/19OJRyhy8aOjgsh4hhBnHVkOyzjUtmTFe/view?usp=sharing

Please download it, install it, and lets see if this works better. If not, comeback and we'll find the way together.

      Best,

        BTW,

I would also recommend not to change the installation folder during the installation. Instead, proceed with the installation using the default values provided.

        Hello,
I installed OpenDSS-G Version 7, but when I try to run OpenDSS-G.exe, it only opens the DSS G Manager. The Tools Palette does not appear, and the menu bar is very different from the one shown in the tutorial videos. As a result, I cannot add any circuit elements or create a new model.
Thank you for your time and assistance.

          Hi,

I think I know what's going on. I've seen this behavior before when during the installation the user decides to change the installation directory to something like "Program Files". OpenDSS-G installs on the "ProgramData" folder to prevent issues regarding accessing its local database. You can try one of the following:

          1. Execute OpenDSS-G as an administrator, to do this, right click on the OpenDSS-G launch icon and select "Run as administrator". If it runs fine, the issue is then due to user privileges.
          2. Uninstall and reinstall the program, this time make sure that the program gets installed at the "ProgramData" folder.
          3. Disable your antivirus protection and run the program, sometimes it is the antivirus killing the interprocess communication within DSS-G. It has happened before:

Let me know how it goes.

          Best,

Hello, thank you for your help. However, I have tried all of these methods, but the problem is still not resolved.

I verified that the software is installed in the ProgramData folder. I also tried running it as Administrator and allowed the application through the firewall, but the issue still persists.

              Hi,

It’s unfortunate the issue is still happening. At this point, it really might be something local. Have you tried installing it on another computer? If it works fine there, then the problem is definitely on the original machine, and I’m afraid there’s not much I can do on that front.
But if the same issue shows up on a different machine, that points to a problem with the installer itself, and I can absolutely dig into that.
No one else has reported this so far, which makes me think it’s likely a localized issue. Please give it a quick check.

              Best,

Another option would be to install NI LabVIEW in your PC (you can download the community version) and run the source code itself. The code can be downloaded from:

                https://sourceforge.net/p/dssimpc/code/HEAD/tree/trunk/Source/

You can use any SVN client for that. The instructions for learning how to run the source code locally with a local NI LabVIEW installation are available here:

                https://sourceforge.net/p/dssimpc/code/HEAD/tree/trunk/Source/README_FIRST.txt

                Hello Sir,

The problem is with my computer because everything works correctly on another computer.
                thank you
