Circle of Elders is a fantasy based world with a heavy emphasis on Tribal themes. It take place on a largish island where many groups of tribes vie for power and land. Most tribes are smaller and nomadish but they have banded together in alliances and created Tribal Centers where their leaders meet in the Circle of Elders.
In this mix as well is the Church of Silentium, a guiding force that has been around for quite a while, however their power is waning. As individual tribes gain more power on their own they begin to chafe under the guidance of the church. We are specifically making the church NOT corrupt, they are there as another power, one with a little more mystery to it.
Magic is rare and something that doesn't crop up very often. Your character won't begin the game with magic, but will likely learn it in the course of the game. Our designer wants to make magic in this world to be almost completely composed of powerful summons (in the vein of 'totem' creatures). These spells will summon your creature (just one, named, not one of many) that will become part of your party. If it dies, you lose that summon forever and may take some other negative effects. But it will be a powerful creature.
Though this won't really be advertised, this all takes place in a post apocalyptic world. There will be stone rivers(highways) and remnants of buildings. The church operates out of one of the larger buildings that still survives. The idea is this is 3k-4k years after the apocalypse. The stories and myths about it are fading, especially as the tribes are wrapped up in their own bids for power.
In this mod, your character is a tribesperson from a smaller tribe. You find your uncle/relative dead one day while out hunting. His death looks like the doing of one of your rival tribes which has been out to get your tribe for awhile. On him is also a weird artifact thing. As you pick it up you feel a weird wave of energy pass over you. Taking the object to your tribal leaders, they advise you to take it to the Bazaar or to one of the Circle's. When you ask about taking revenge for your uncle's death they agree to allow you to do that as well.
And hence begins your adventure.
We are looking at making this mod about 20 hours of play time. We plan on using a lot of the content that GPG releases, but some things we will want to have custom done. Most of that will be textures for the nodes (the postapocalyptic parts). We will probably end up needing some 3D art for weapons, the artifact, some nodes possibly, some characters, some enemies. We aren't really sure the scope of the 3D art we will want/need.

It might be good to come up with a way to transgress the line between ancient DS land to a futuristic land such as this.
