This is a development release; see below for details. Drone 1.03
remains the stable version.
WHAT IS DRONE?
Drone is a system for automatically running simulation programs in
batch mode, either on an arbitrary number of Internet hosts or on a
single computer. It allows sweeps over arbitrary sets of parameters,
as well as multiple runs for each parameter set, with a separate
random seed for each run. It also includes a number of features to
help with simulation record keeping, archiving, statistical
validation, and replication.... read more
The Drone homepage has been updated and moved to http://drone.sourceforge.net/
I have created a new Drone email list, drone-patches@lists.sourceforge.net. This list is for submitting patches to the Drone developers. Note that the preferred method for submitting patches is the SourceForge patch manager at http://sourceforge.net/patch/?group_id=1558
To subscribe to drone-patches, go to
http://lists.sourceforge.net/mailman/listinfo/drone-patches
I have created a new Drone email list, drone-bugs@lists.sourceforge.net.
This list is for reporting Drone bugs to the Drone developers. Note that
the SourceForge bug tracking service at
http://sourceforge.net/bugs/?group_id=1558 is the preferred way to report
bugs.
To subscribe to drone-bugs, go to
http://lists.sourceforge.net/mailman/listinfo/drone-bugs
The Drone CVS source code tree is now available for developers and for anonymous, read-only access. See the Drone project's CVS page http://sourceforge.net/cvs/?group_id=1558 for details.
NOTE: This is not a release! If you are interested in trying out Drone, download the latest release. Currently, this is Drone-1.03.
I have created 4 mailing lists for the Drone project. All of them are currently public.
drone-announce is a low-volume list for announcements only
drone-users is a list for users to ask questions about using Drone, report problems, etc.
drone-dev is for programmers working on Drone itself
drone-cvs is for issues related to the Drone CVS tree, including commit messages
The old releases of Drone are now available for download. The last stable release was Drone 1.03. The last development release, working towards Drone 2.0, was Drone 970829a. Work on 2.0 has ceased, and neither 1.0.x nor 970828a are being maintained. However, if you are interested in trying Drone right now, you can download and install Drone 1.03; full documentation is included.
I will be releasing Drone 2.9.0 soon, which is a development release working towards Drone 3.0. I will also import the Drone 2.9.0 CVS tree. Drone 2.9.0 has been completely redesigned and rewritten. I will post more details soon. If you are interested in hacking on Drone, or suggesting new features, you should wait until 2.9.0 is released.
