Greetings. Can you tell me when I can get and install xHE-AAC CODEC? I have searched with no success. Dream message is "no codec available" when receiving Radio Kuwait DRM signal.
Thanks-you !
John

What does this mean?
Since the 10kEUR or so expensive Fraunhofer Software Radio apparently isn't supported any more (which for itself is annoying) I'm looking for a way to verify test files produced out of the Fraunhofer Content Server but so far no luck with dream.
Note that Fhg CS always defaults to xHE-AAC when configuring an audio service.

OK thanks. There are 3 youtubes in last month using Dream to listen to R Kuwait DRM. Wondering what they did to achieve that. I posted the question there.
I tried Dream 1.13, it doesn't give that error, but no audio either.

On this one https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dzkk307oTug the dream display says AAC+ so that would be the normal FAAD codec. We don't distribute that for IPR reasons but there are instructions for building it. If they have got lost i'll post a link.

Thanks again Julian. From what I can gather, I guess I would have to build or compile the Dream program with the proper CODEC in order to get audio from R Kuwait. I had downloaded FAAD2 and launched the EXE, it pops a windows for an instant, then seems to do nothing, and has no effect on Dream. Clearly, I don't know what I am doing.
I can't get Dream Ver 1.13 to decode from that station, I presume the built-in CODEC is too old to decode this newer encoding.?.? I used it OK years ago with several DRM stations.
Thanks!

I am receiving Kuwait here on DREAM v 1.17 just installed the feed file from the Sodira software to the dream folder
I live in India but have not been able to decode most of the AIR stations in Bangalore and Delhi I think this is due to the AAC +
I do all my listening on the sdr.hu web site

Yes. I know it is not AAC+. I have been waiting to hear from you for the past many months on the work you are doing on xHE-AAC decoding. Would be glad to hear about updates on the subject. Thank you.

Recent versions of dream look for the shared libfaad_drm library - on Debian and Ubuntu Linux this is part of the libfaad package so no need to compile. For windows a compatible DLL might be in the SODIRA download (If it's called libfaad2.dll it will need renaming to libfaad_drm.dll and copying into the Dream binary folder.)

Thanks Julian. I'm up and running under Windows10. Had to get the CODEC named faad2_drm.dll though https://www.rtl-sdr.com/tutorial-drm-radio-using-rtl-sdr/ website.
Now we just need more DRM broadcast programming !
BTW, I recorded several minutes of a DRM broadcast to use as the source fed to DREAM so I can test anytime without waiting for a broadcast...

I am unable to get the xHE-AAC codecs to listen to some DRM broadcasts. I am using DREAM and AIRSPY on Windows 7. Please let me know where they are available or if they can be compiled and how to do it. Thank you.

Sorry John, I'm not aware of any open source codec for xHE-AAC.

Good news. We should soon have xHE-AAC support for DRM30 reception in Dream.
Hi
I am a noob.
Can you please tell me if xHE-AAC support for Dream DRM30 , if so where can I get it from,
Thanks
Rohit
Wondering if there is another possible CODEC that would work with this audio from R Kuwait, it is 17 Kbps AAC+ P-Stereo?

Hi Jagan i'm still working on integrating this you'll have to wait a few more weeks before dream can decode these broascasts.
Thank you for the prompt response. Will gladly wait. Thanks again.Jagan.
