What file in Dream 2.1.1 tells the audio to leave the Dream 2.1.1 software and go to my PC Speakers.
As I said before I finally got this thing at least decoding the audio and steadly on a good DRM signal via Internet and KiwiSDR's and finally have the audio indicating in Dream it is decoded good ,but I still hear nothing out of my PC Speakers, even after enabling the PC Speakers as the Audio Output in Dream.
What I don't understand is in order to get the audio into the Virtual Audio IN cable I have to Disable my PC Speakers and tell the audio from the Internet KiwiSDR's to go INTO the Virtual Audio IN cable rather then PC Speakers. That works good. But if my PC Speakers are now disabled how will they see audio from the DREAM AUDIO OUTPUT ,when I tell it in the Dream software Audio Out window to go to my PC Speakers.
How can I prove it ( the audio from Dream ) is going to that DREAM file & that file ( in 2.1.1 ) is sending it to my PC Speakers ??? I don't see it in the green bar level indicator for PC Speaker mode.

How are you getting the signal from the internet? From a KiwiSDR web page in a browser? If so, that browser needs to play the IQ audio from the Kiwi to your Virtual Audio Cable. I use the Waterfox browser (similar to older versions of Firefox) with a plug-in called "Audio device change" that allows me to select the audio output device (audio cable) from the brower menu. All sounds from the browser then go into the cable, not to my speakers. I then have Dream set to read its input from the Virtual Audio Cable, and play to my normal speakers as the output device.
Cheers, Chris

Chris,
Thanks for the response,
Yes I am using KiwiSDR's RX's via Internet tuned to a receiver in France.
I have eveything hooked up & working like you said . . . except when I choose the PC REALTEK HI-DEF speakers from DREAM output to my Windows 10 PC ,I get no audio out of the PC speakers. All indications in the DREAM window say it is decoding the audio perfect. I get station name ,decode audio info ,etc.
Signals are strong.
I know I am using Windows 10 and it seem DREAM 2.2 doesn't like Windows 10 but I went to Dream 2.1.1 which does do more then 2.2 with Windows 10 . . . but still can't hear audio ???
One thing someone previously mention was to check my "levels". I looked close at them and was amazed that a slight increase in the "audio" levels in my user interface stops the decoding dead . . . very critical if they are not set correctly.

I've attached a screen shot of my Dream settings on Windows 10 just now. This is playing back a pre-recorded IF file, but it shows the output device I have selected, and the Windows audio mixer panel. Double check that you don't have the "mute audio" button checked. Do you get audio if you use Dream in AM mode to receive a local AM station? If that works, perhaps there is a missing decoding DLL or something. I have given up on Dream 2.2 for now - it just isn't ready for general use.
Chris,
FINALLY I HEARD DRM !!! . . . BUT . . I still have an issue. I set things up the way you showed me in your screen shot ,I hear the DRM "clear as can be " BUT I still hear analog "noise" with it . . . if I lower the volume on the KiwiSDR all the way down ( since I can't control my PC Speakers level the normal way ,the way I have it setup ) the DRM is perfect ,the analog noise goes away . . . then after I guess the buffering runs out the DRM goes away until I turn volume up on KiwiRX. Then analog noise and afew soconds later DRM mixed with it.
Thanks ,you got me to finally hear DRM ,got any ideas why the analog is coming thru also ???
I'll keep playing with it but if you got an idea please share it, again Thanks to You & all the others here that got me this far . . . to me the audio setup isn't that easy.

Like I said in previous message I been playing with the audio settings and it seems my stumbling block is in Windows 10 on the audio settings called APP VOLUME AND DEVICE PREFRENCES. I can play with these settings and get all different results. I finally found a setting that favors the DRM audio over the analog noise. The noise is still there but much lower ,where as the DRM is much louder. Plus my PC Speaker volume level control is now working normally.
I can adjust the different levels to make this work more or less normal, but I still hear noise alittle behind the clean DRM audio.
I just feel once I turn PC OFF then back on the settings will all be gone and have to be all made again.
On the Windows 10 audio settings in PLAYBACK the GREEN CIRCLE with CHECK is indicating the device that is active ,correct ? What is the little GREEN CIRCLE what looks like a telephone receiver or some sort in it ,an odd symbol ???
Now under PLAYBACK the GREEN CIRCLE with check indicator is on my SPEAKERS . . . the other GREEN CIRCLE ( with the funny looking symbol in it ) is on my VIRTUAL AUDIO CABLE IN.

Under Windows 10 Settings->Sound->Sound Control Panel, select the "Recording" tab, and check the properties for the VAC you are using. If you have the "Listen to this device" box ticked you will hear the VAC audio through your speakers (or whatever your default output audio is). You do not want that box ticked. Check if it is.
Chris,
Thanks again, unchecking that box got rid of the analog audio coming thru with the DRM audio. What caught me on this was before I had the DRM audio decoding part working , everytime I unchecked that box the audio I did have went away ,at the time I figured that was all of the audio going away . . . analog & any DRM if it appeared . . . so I left that box checked.
Again Thank You.
Have a Happy Holiday,
Al

Glad it's working now. I still tend to record DRM signals using the KiwiSDR
record function and then play them back using Dream rather than try and
decode live remotely.
