I had a similar problem earlier this week. A kind soul gave me this=20
suggestion which worked.

Put the following line in site.def

#define LdPreLib -L$(BUILDLIBDIR) -L$(USRLIBDIR) -L/usr/X11R6/lib/

substitute the path to your current xlibs for "/usr/X11R6/lib/".
