I'm about to start a little bitch-fest with some developers, and I want to make sure I get my facts straight before I start. As I understand it... 1) DRI mostly affects changes at the kernel level, and has little to do with the rest of the X server itself; i.e. can be built independently of the XFree86 binary. 2) The DRI additions to the Linux kernels include (dated) source patches that build the same driver modules that downloading and building the DRI X server would build. 3) By using the DRI modules included with the kernel source tree, one can get the same performance that the DRI CVS had at or near the same date that the code was merged. 3) Building the MGA DRI module for a G450 requires the proprietary HALlib.a library, available from Matrox. If any of these statements is twisted, malformed, or outright WRONG, I'd like to hear about it before I embarrass myself in front of someone who cares :). -- -=|JP|=- "This space intentionally left blank."
