dri-noob wants to help in r300 driver development

well,
having tried xorg+dri, i finally decided to abandon those proprietary ati=20
drivers, since they kept on freezing my box irregularly.
And since the r300 driver still needs "some" work done, i'd like to=20
participate. So far, I've been diggin through some drm and mesa/dri code, b=
ut=20
haven't found some great documentation/specification.

is there any clue, docs, specs out there, how to access the r300 hardware?
or a simple way of obtaining them?
