Hello, just sending this to describe my experience so far with the open-source r300 drivers. My card is a Radeon 9600Pro with 256 mb ram by Gecube. After installing everything following this tutorial : http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-374745-highlight-r300.html I was able to get inside X without problems. But, after a few minutes of use, I started having some problems. Don't know how to describe them very well, so I took screenshots. My screen gets like this : http://www.ic.unicamp.br/~ra016681/Screenshot.png After it gets like that, if I move screens around it gets like this : http://www.ic.unicamp.br/~ra016681/Screenshot-1.png I have tried a few games (gonna try more later) : 1) Unreal Tournament : seems to work perfectly fine. Haven't played it for long, but it's alot better than before with my Riva TNT2. 2) Counter Strike (with Cedega) : slow as hell. Completely unplayable. 3) Call of Duty (with Cedega) : doesn't start. Says my card does not implement something that it needs to run, and tells me to reinstall the driver (it doesn't say anyhing useful , like what is missing). 4) Scourge : kinda slow, and has some sprite problems. sometimes the entire scren gets brown, for like .1 s , and then it gets back to normal. But its really slow (specially moving the mouse around). I've just bought this card mainly because of the open source drivers, and I really hope I can help. Has anyone had any physical problems with their cards using this drivers ? Thanks alot, and if you guys want to know anything else, just ask --lf |
