Hi Folks- I just got an IBM Thinkpad R52 which has the i915GM chip (I specifically got the intel model rather than ATI since the open source drivers were better supported by intel). I'm running Gentoo with the 7.0-r1 xorg tree. It appears to run with the i810 module (6.8 versions wouldn't). But I can't get the 1400x1050 resolution to work. The log message says: (II) I810(0): Not using mode "1400x1050" (no mode of this name) and it is reverting to 1280x1024. (maybe I should ask this in the xorg lists, but thought someone here might have an answer). WRT to DRI, here's some stuff from the log: [drm] failed to load kernel module "i915" (EE) I810(0): [dri] DRIScreenInit failed. Disabling DRI. Looking through my .config I see the following: CONFIG_DRM=3Dy # CONFIG_DRM_TDFX is not set # CONFIG_DRM_R128 is not set # CONFIG_DRM_RADEON is not set # CONFIG_DRM_I810 is not set # CONFIG_DRM_I830 is not set # CONFIG_DRM_I915 is not set # CONFIG_DRM_MGA is not set # CONFIG_DRM_SIS is not set # CONFIG_DRM_VIA is not set # CONFIG_DRM_SAVAGE is not set I guess I need to make CONFIG_DRM_I915 a module. Will this work on 2.6.15 (what I'm running) or do I need newer sources? Any help, suggestions or hints are greatly welcomed. thanks matt |
