I've attached below the XF86Config from my machine which is using a PCI Radeon 7000. The most important line is the one that reads Option "ForcePCIMode" "true" This informs the driver that the card is a PCI card rather than a AGP. Also, at one time the PCI code was disabled and you had to down load the source, patch and compile it yourself. I beleive as of 4.3.0 that is no longer needed but as I'm still running the patched CVS version from some months back I can't say from personal experience that it's true. I can say though that it can work and work reasonably well.
