I have been watching this list on and off for several weeks now, and I am curious about the prospects for Radeon. Is the progress "on the Radeon 3D support" leading toward a performance level equivalent to a G400 or TNT2, or is there any work begin done toward hardware geometry acceleration? I am working on a large visualization project, and we so far have several machines, two with Matrox G400 cards, one with an NVidia TNT2 card, one with an NVidia GeForce card, and one with a 3Dfx Voodoo3 card. So the only machine that can take advantage of hardware geometry acceleration is the one with the GeForce card. We would prefer to use free software wherever possible, however, and so we are eager, toward that end, to identify appropriate hardware. -- Thomas E.
