I cvs'd a very recent release of the tdfx-3-0-0 branch and compiled it up on a book PC running RedHat 7. The book PC (which is attached to my TV and stereo) has an i810 chipset. I could not get it to do direct rendering and it wasn't obvious what the problem was. All the correct modules were being loaded, the XFree86.0.log said that direct rendering was enabled, but I was getting the Indirect GLX (according to the renderer string) and it showed. It turned out the problem was the /dev/dri directory didn't have search perms for anyone but root. Once that was changed, all went well. Stephen PS - Is *anyone* doing anything about FreeBSD or other non-Linux OS's? I see a whole bunch of code has been checked into the Linux kernel modules. I'd like to see a lot of stuff separated out into a library, using an abstracted interface rather like what the XFree86 people have done in other areas. -- The views expressed above are not those of PGS Tensor.
