Bug #128284, was updated on 2001-Jan-10 06:24 Here is a current snapshot of the bug. Project: Direct Rendering Infrastructure Category: ATI OpenGL Status: Open Resolution: None Bug Group: X Server Hang/Core Dump Priority: 5 Submitted by: nobody Assigned to : nobody Summary: several probelms with DRI on Dell Inspiron 8000 Details: I have installed the XFree 4.0.2 RPMs from SuSE on a Dell Inspiron 8000 notebook (with ATI Mobility M4/32 MB video RAM/128 MB system RAM/i815 chipset for 4x AGP). The distribution is SuSE Linux 7.0 with Kernel 2.2.16 (kernel with APM support), including the agpgart driver. I have compiled and installed the DRM modules for Xfree 4.0.2 according to the instructions in the XFree 4.0.2 readme file by SuSE. (I have also tried kernel 2.4.0 with the included agpgart and r128 DRM modules, with identical results). Problem #1: When I start the X server, both the agpgart- (with the option "agp_try_unsupported=1" when using kernel 2.2.16) and r128- modules are loaded, but the screen flickers in a strange way (especially when accessing the harddisk). Problem #2: According to the X11 logfile, DRI seems to be fully initialized, but as soon as I start a client that uses OpenGL, the GL window appears all black and X totally hangs. The mouse cursor can still be moved but neither keyboard nor mouse buttons are responding anymore. When I do not load the agpgart and r128 modules, X runs fine, without flickering, but OpenGL apps only run in software rendering mode, of course... :( For detailed info, follow this link: http://sourceforge.net/bugs/?func=detailbug&bug_id=128284&group_id=387 |
