Support Request #106991, was updated on 2000-Oct-23 00:37 You can respond by visiting: http://sourceforge.net/support/?func=detailsupport&support_id=106991&group_id=387 Category: None Status: Open Priority: 5 Summary: Attempted DRI on G200 By: larva Date: 2000-Oct-23 00:37 Message: Logged In: NO Browser: Mozilla/4.72 [en] (X11; U; Linux 2.2.17 i686) I am running a Matrox Millenium G200 8MB SGRAM (AGP). I have attempted to use DRI through several means: a) tarballs from www.xfree86.org b) CVS from dri.sourceforge.net In combination with the following kernel versions: i) 2.2.17 ii) 2.4.0-test9 No combination worked, despite the fact that in all instances I followed the instructions in the compilation guide VERY carefully (I successfully compiled and installed from CVS 3-4 times). startx fails with two types of messages: i) DRM version 2.0.1 found, but X expected 1.0.x this happened when I tried to use Kernel 2.4.0-test9 I didn't _want_ to run this kernel version (I'm wary of development kernels), but it seemed the only way. ii) [drm] dma Initialized start [drm] dma Initialization failed. ... This occurred with the 2.2.17 kernel I use. I was carefull to leave enough Video memory for buffers (640x480@16bpp) and this still happened (BTW- it said it allocated 32 DMA command buffers successfully, or something) I'm not running an exceptional number of devices/PCI cards- but looking at someone elses startx dump indicated that at this point I should expect to see something like "using IRQ x". Could I have run out of IRQs? It also fails to use AGP 2x. I have a 2x card, and a 4x motherboard, so I don't know why this is happening. The other odd things which might be a factor: AMD Thunderbird 700 Asus A7V Motherboard (VIA KT133 chipset, with AGP 4x support) Any help would be appreciated. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: http://sourceforge.net/support/?func=detailsupport&support_id=106991&group_id=387 |
