I have an ATI Radeon QD on a IWill KA266-R (Ali Magick
chipset) motherboard with an 1.4GHz Tbird running
kernel 2.4.9-xfs. I rebuilt XFree86 Version 4.1.99.1
(DRI trunk) Release Date: 20 August 2001 from CVS

I am using the kernel drm module from the XFree86 tree

Everything built and installed fine, glxinfo reports
dri enable but when I try ANY gl programs I end up with
a black screen (the mouse is still moving though). I
cannot go much further after that and end up rebooting
the machine.

The error in the kernel logs looks like:

kernel: [drm] AGP 0.99 on ALi M1647 @ 0xf0000000 64MB
kernel: [drm] Initialized radeon 1.1.1 20010405 on minor 0
.... irrelevant stuff deleted ....
kernel: [drm:radeon_freelist_get] *ERROR* returning NULL!
last message repeated 1829 times

I believe I have seen a similar message in some
previous bug report but I cannot find it anymore.

I would appreciate if somebody could point me in the
right direction.

Thanks in advance.

PS:I attached my log, message and config files.

    For some reason, Linux-Mandrake 8.1 RC1 (includes XFree86
4.1.0 w/GLX and DRI) featuring kernel 2.4.8 does *not*
exhibit this bug. What's more, both GLX *and* DRI work on
    startup.

This is currently true of no other distribution that I am
    aware of.

System as an ABIT VP 6 with the VIA ApolloPro 133A AGPset
(however, I'm booting from the HPT370 ATA-100 controller)
with a Pentium-III 1 GHz CPU w/ 512 MB of RAM. Video is an
ATI All In Wonder *Radeon* 32 MB DDR AGP 4X.
