Thats great news! I just finished up a new ISO that has the newer v7 SDRAngel. Still getting used to its new workspace layout. You can update your SDRAngel by using the SDRAngel deb package.
Cemaxecuter I got it fixed. It was the burn on the jump drive. The MD5 checked ok on the iso, but the burn to the jump drive was bad, regardless I downloaded the ISO again and burned again, this time SUCCESS. Great piece of work. I already aligned the TX on a DMR repeater, SDRangle did the trick. Now to learn all of the other tools that are new to me.
William, Try grabbing the latest test ISO here https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/19TJiEfcqX9qSAVsWiaUe-5bdMGMiZUo7 Use etcher to burn to usb. Boot into DragonOS and then start installer, but do so disconnected from the internet. See if install completes. Upgrading from LTS will not work as you would like mainly because I build and customize everything myself.
OK, I tried to do an install from the running ISO, in fact I even used SDRangel running on the jump drive. so I then went to the install icon and tried to instal from there. Previously when the install booted and gave the option to test drive Ubuntu or install I did install. This time I got a message that said that some of the files had failed to install, something I did not get with the direct install. So some files are not being installed. I am going to download the iso again and re-install it...
I would much prefer the latest and greatest, but so far it will not finish the install. If I look at the hard drive all of the stuff is there, but something is tripping up the very last step.
Oh yes after I installed LTS, the system offered to update to 22.04... Do I take it or we figure out what is going on with Focal?
Hi there, that is what my first attempts were. I downloaded DragonOS Focal and went through the install process, it gets to the very end where it is doing the clean up and getting ready to restart the computer into the new install and then you get that screen. I ended up downloading the LTS just to see if it would work and indeed it did. I have looked for files to try to determine what is going on but no joy. I have tried it now on two different laptops, both of them are thinkpads. I can boot to...
Hi Chuck. The DragonOS LTS distro is old and ive not maintained. I recommend to instead grab the DragonOS Focal ISO and try to install it instead. If you need the old distro i can try to look at it. https://sourceforge.net/projects/dragonos-focal/
I go through the whole insall process, and at the very end I get a full screen saying that the installer crashed and that system is gathering data for the developers to correct. I first tried to do an install a back in early April. Got busy with other things, then grabbed another laptop and tried it, got the same thing. After you click [OK] on the initial page you get another window with the following: The installer encountered an unrecoverable error a desktop session will now be run so that you...
nevermind, i changed boot settings/bios settings to allow legacy devices boot.

Help live booting from a flash drive?
This is fhe version I'm keeping an eye on. I figure once everything is all set for the newer python etc. I'd add it back in to the newer DragonOS Focal.

that's good. saves me having to attempt to install op25. i could not get it to compile/install on ParrotOS that had python2 & python3 installed. i think, sdrtunk since 2019 now can decode phase II also. via rtl-sdr.com article i went to this site/link to get a heads up on op25 versus etc decoders... https://www.hagensieker.com/wordpress/2018/11/19/a-tale-of-two-decoders-op25-dsdplus/ note: same site has a tutorial using sdrtrunk for P25 trunk scanning. i'll keep looking about from time to time to...
Glad you're enjoying it though. I've been having fun and lesrning a lot along the way.
So OP25 was included in thr slightly older DragonOS LTS, but when i switched to DragonOS Focal and gnuradio 3.8/python3 i wanted to hold off on op25 till i was sure it worked with thr updates. SDRTrunk on the other hand seemed to work perfectly. To be honest, im not sure what is lost or gained by having one or the other. They seemed to do the same thing. Please let me know if you find something Op25 has that Sdrtrunk doesnt. hopefully ill be able to add both.
i had thought i read on rtl-sdr.com that DragonOS now comes with OP25. though i do see in the menu SDRTrunk. is SDRTrunk preferred over OP25 or are these apples & oranges? newbie, really glad you put all this together!!
