DragonOS is a very useful tool also in its live DVD form, for quick testing of hardware and/or software. I understand that it's best that VirtualBox guest tools are installed by the user so the right version (given the host VBox version) is obtained.
However, it would be very practical if at least the latest focal packages were included by default, so the user has some chance for the tools to work out-of-the box if live DVD is used in a VM. At least resolution-changing and folder-sharing seem to work even when there's host and guest tools version mismatch and those are the main features anyway.
Also a good idea, I will check this out to. Side note, some people have been using vmware which i guess does not need guest tools? However, it has had some unique issues with SDRs. Mainly the airspy r2 which needs special settings in the .vmx.
Say the repo version is installed by default, I think it would easily be updated if a version from thr virtual box site is later installed?
I'm not sure which virtual box guest package from the repo is appropriate. The virtual box guest iso package has virtual box itself as a requirement, along with a handful of other applications. I think this would be the correct combo, but having 200+ MB to gain the tools would not be the best method. I'll try some other combos.
I'm not sure about VMware tools, but I suppose something similar is needed.
ISO is not the right way to go since user would still have to mount it and install the package manually. ISO is what the host uses "from the outside" to install a specific version if needed.
For VirtualBox guest support
virtualbox-guest-dkms,virtualbox-guest-utilsandvirtualbox-guest-x11are needed if I'm not mistaken.I'll try again on a fresh build and use only those three.
Fresh build, checked using those at a minimum. It comes out to almost 200M it needs to take up. I can't really commit that space on the live boot as I still have RF related applications I want to fill that space.
