We meaning when we spoke about this. I need to remind myself what challenges are keeping me from including it by default - possibly dkms or something else ending in to big of an add to continue to make the image distributed. I face a hard limit of about 4GB when compressed before I can no longer succeed in making the ISO. I can’t justify removing other applications to include something by default that may not be used by a lot of people - not saying that’s the case, but I’m trying to maintain a fine...

After some time and no xtrx support in the images, i decided to ask about any it. To my understanding i would now again just have to continue waiting. I’ll be back from a little vacation in about a week. I’ll dd the setup on my end into an img and you/I can see how it restores on a drive. I’m thinking you’d have to live boot in order to dd the image back to your onboard nvme drive. There’s also clonezilla, I’ll see what makes the most sense. Thanks for the quick reply. Yes, the hardware-specific tweaks are what make the WarDragon so great, imho. I like the idea of a restorable image with instructions. A second nmve drive might serve as a way to maintain a backup of anything on the original drive or to experiment, which could be helpful... But, for me, an image of the latest build with the hardware tweaks would work. Thanks!

  • Cemaxecuter Cemaxecuter posted a comment on discussion General Discussion

Scott, I’m actually coming up with a plan for that now. You see, on the WarDragon I do additional configuration that’s not in the normal ISO. Normally updates would just come from the repo I’ve created, but I did some big changes with GNU Radio and other applications in such a way I’ve not figured out the best way to update over the air yet. What I’m thinking of doing is creating a restorable image and offering it for download to WarDragon owners with specific directions or offering that i personally...

Just following up, I started trying to run the VARA HF v4.8.7 (High Performance HF Modem) but I've yet to have it run at all yet, is that the one you're trying to run?

  • Gary McAuliffe Gary McAuliffe posted a comment on discussion General Discussion

I started using dumbhfdl wrapper because I thought that an HF Discovery + (or more than one ) would be more stable that the RSP1a api, which for me crashes pretty often. Right now I am running a test with a RSPia bare metal with the Wiedehoph frequency hopper wrapper against another Dragon box with the Discovery. Same 300' longwire through a Sdrisdberg Engineering RX multi-coupler to the SDRs.

  • Cemaxecuter Cemaxecuter posted a comment on discussion General Discussion

That’s really interesting and lots going on in there. Out of curiosity, have you found a seg fault manually running dumphfdl directly with a list of frequencies and such? Sorry I hadn't noticed this sooner. I suspect you just do not have enough ram on the Pi3 at 1GB. That would be my guess. I can only think of maybe one time I tried the Pi3 and I think I had to give it a lot of virtual ram. The Zswap z3fold not available is normal though. Although what your seeing sounds like what someone else was seeing and in the end they grabbed a different SD card and burnt it again and was able to proceed. Can you try another SD card?

At one point there was something running some kind of torrent, but I've not managed it myself. What I find is that on SourceForge if you're finding a slow download speed you can stop the download and changed the mirror to somewhere close. It's not a super obvious option, but the mirror can be changed. Just sharing that in case the download speed is prompting you to ask about the torrent.

Are there any established official Torrents for DragonOS?

Thank you for the prompt response! There is no hurry, I was just curious if it came pre-installed. Cemaexecuter, Yes it worked OK, I download update's too via desktop app and change the hostname via CLI. Yes I had to boot using UEFI but in the bios it was or is IDE and Secuity boot turned off, hit F9 since its a HP desktop and boot from UEFI DVD and it installed OK, I did create a USB using the etcher software just in case. cheers

  • Cemaxecuter Cemaxecuter posted a comment on ticket #13

I didn’t know you were trying via DVD. I’ve never seen that work that I can recall, usually needs to be a USB that you burn the iso to with something like etcher. So you did get it to work by using a DVD? That’s interesting. Still showing the grub on reboot, I seen it install grub from the desktop OK and I've burn it to DVD, I've turned my bios to IDE and not ACHI, only other thing I can try is load the DVD to use UEFI instead of Legacy boot, I'm using DragonOS_FocalX_R33.iso

cheers Cemaxecuter I've re download ISO from sourceforge and not from https://cemaxecuter.com/ this time and I've downloaded a file called WinHasher, the SHA1 seems to be the same, I'm going to burn to DVD this time and not create a USB boot I will let you know how I go

  • Cemaxecuter Cemaxecuter posted a comment on ticket #13

It’s very and highly likely your download is corrupt. That’s typically what I see when this occurs. You can attempt to download again, check hash, and reburn to a usb as a double check. 2GB is correct. I bought it at the time Raspberry Pi's were outrageously high due to shortage of supply and large demand. I have installed Ubuntu on it. Might just need to get another Raspberry Pi since my other one is tied up with FlightRadar24. Thank you for the fast response.

  • Cemaxecuter Cemaxecuter posted a comment on discussion General Discussion

Quick glance I don’t believe either. The Pi build is built off Ubuntu 22.04 and specific to the Pi and I see it saying the potato is arm so the x86_64 DragonOS Pi64 wouldn’t work either. Sorry! Looks pretty interesting though. You see benefits of using it vs Pi? I see it listing only up to 2GB ram, maybe I looked at that wrong. I’ll have to go check this, I originally did not have it in there but the excel portion of it was handy and someone pointed out it’s good to write reports. The excel portion also creates compatible files for op25 (my memory is terrible so I’ll have to see what that’s about). Have you tried saving in word format? I’ll go try what you’re saying and also see about removing and its impact. Sent from Proton Mail for iOS On Tue, Feb 27, 2024 at 8:18 PM, jofewi <jofewi@users.sourceforge.net> wrote: I vote...

I am not sure but if i understand correctly, the FPGA image is written inside some ROM part of the xtrx. Thats why if you reflash it and something does not work, you brick it and need special hardware tools to fix it again. Lets see if the XTRX support could fit and work inside of the iso file of DragonOS R34 with rebuild SDRAngel to also add support for it there.

  • jofewi jofewi posted a comment on discussion General Discussion

I vote LibreOffice out of the ISO image. First reason: Its somewhat broken. When i create a file, write something in the file, close LibreOffice and confirm save changes, then open the .odt file again with LibreOffice and just want to close LibreOffice again, it always ask me if i would like to save the changes. But there are no changes. I just opened and want to directly close LibreOffice again. Second reason: There is already Featherpad and gedit and those have no such issues like LibreOffice....
