Just run
dosemu -D9+p
reproduce the problem, then find
~/.dosemu/boot.log and upload it here.
fecci@fecci:~$ dosemu -D9+p
Using CPU emulation because vm.mmap_min_addr > 0.
For more information, see /home/fecci/.dosemu/boot.log.
ERROR: MFS: couldn't find root path /media/CDROM
Nothing come out ==

If you look at your own screenshot, you'll see
"For more information, see /home/fecci/.dosemu/boot.log"
If even this is not clear, please contact
your local linux guru for guidelines.
As wisdom says, every new linux user should
have a guru friend.
This one is from ubuntu 12.04
This is not a -D9+p sorry.
So you need to specify "-D9+p" and make
the log on Ubuntu 14.04 too.
Ubuntu 14.04 bootlog

Yes but no printing attempts are logged.
Same problem. Went away for the summer, got back, updated Lubuntu 14.04. Printer (HP 6L attached with usb to serial cable) works fine from abiword in Lubuntu, but doesn't work from dosemu. I attach a bootlog.
Thanks.
I can see nothing wrong in the log.
Could you please attach also the log
from the older ubuntu where things work?
Another thing to test would be to create
a small text file and do the following:
$ cat test.txt | lpr -l
Does this print fine?
Unfortunately, I've updated all my computers, and I have no easy way to go back.
I tried your test (yes - I typed the letter "l" and not the number "1" in "lpr" and "-l"). But it said:
lpr: lp: unknown printer
Hope this helps and thanks for your support.
Then this is not a dosemu problem.
dosemu simply uses "lpr -l" by default
for printing, but you can set up any
other command in dosemu.conf.
As to why lpr doesn't work for you, you
should likely ask at ubuntu forums.
Also see what
$ lpstat -p -d
says. Maybe this will give some hint.
Hi,
for me printing works well under ubuntu 12.04, 14.04+14.10, I have tested this with various printers and via network, lpt, usb, usb-lpt cable,...
As dosemu by default prints to the default printer, is it configured right? I use the CUPS webinterface to do that, call (in your webbrowser) 127.0.0.1:631 and enter your credentials.
Under administration, try setting your desired printer as "Server default". Other option would be to edit the dosemu.conf, in Ubuntu:
gedit /etc/dosemu/dosemu.conf
and search for the lpt section...
Can someone please test devel branch?
It should now properly log and report
the printing failures.
(if it works at all)

Attached a working one, USB Zebra printer with CUPS.
Another one. The first label wasn't printed but the second was?!...
Thanks Hans, but you forgot git pull
