No

When I run legacy, it seem that over 95% of the time,
I get this error "I_Error(): ScreenFlip() : couldn't
Flip surfaces" (copied directly from log.txt)

Legacy begins to load, I see a black screen, i hear 1
second (sometimes) of the doom music, then it quits
and I see a dialog box saying ScreenFlip() couldn't
flip surfaces..

I use Windows 2000 SP2, and an ATI 3D Rage II+ DVD 4MB
Video Card. Outdated, yes, but it should be able for
doom. My resolution is set at 1024x768.

ZDoom, another port doesn't work for me either. The
strangest part is, it used to work before I
reinstalled Windows 2000. I just did a clean install
recently, but it doesn't seem to help.

The original IDSoftware Doom executables work
perfectly "fine." But I want to be able to do
something with tcp/ip you know :)

P.S. I have attached log.txt (debugging file)

thanks,
ken

I wanted to add that this problem occurs with legacy 1.30
as well. I use DirectX 8, if that matters.

My friend doesn't have this problem at all, he uses legacy
1.3.. but he doesn't use windows 2000 either.

Do you have tryed other game like Quake 3 or others maybe it is related to your system ? We have already tested
legacy under win2k sp1 and sp2 it work great so problem isn't win2k

    I don't know what it is.. but I can't try quake3.. it
requires a 3d graphic card. I reinstalled windows 2k and it
didn't work so I don't really have much of an idea what it
    can be..

Well i doubt so, the question is : do any windows native game work on your system ? Have you tried opengl or
regular software version ? also try to change you resolution ...

Did you installed the latest driver for you video card ?
When it worked, what was you DirectX and SP version ?
Does it work in 320x200 or 640x480 resolution ?
Does it work if you use the -win command line swtich ?

yes, the latest driver is installed for my video card. when
it worked I was using DirectX 8 and SP2, but it also didn't
work as well with the same versions.

it doesn't work in 320x200 or 640x480 resolution.. or
    800x600 or 1024x768.

zdoom works in 1024x768 full screen, but any other
resolution doesn't work in full screen for me. however any
resolution not using full screen mode works.

the -win command line switch works fine.

Well, the problem doesn't seem to be Legacy related, but rather related to DirectX or your video card driver. We
cannot do much more than suggesting you to try maybe another directx version or use another driver for your video
card. The fact ZDoom work in 1024x768 maybe due to the options choosen when setting up that display mode.
That's why I moved this thread in the "support request" rather than in the "bug tracking".
