OS: Windows 11 Home 24H2
Doom Legacy ver: 1.48.18 ("Windows XP i686 SDL1 1749" release version) and 1.48.16
Computer specs: Intel Core i5-13400 at 2.5 GHz with 16 GB of RAM
In 1.48.16 and 1.48.18, the player character starts off pretty normal at a fast speed since I have always run enabled.
But for some reason, the player character's speed eventually slows down more and more until they walk at a snail's pace.
I've tested in both Doom 2 and Ultimate Doom so far and the bug is there in the original IWAD levels.
I have no idea what is causing the player character to slow down all of a sudden.
Of note is that 1.48.14 does not have this bug. It runs perfectly fine in those same IWADs I've tested.
I don't know if this is a good idea, but I am attaching the config file I've used for 1.48.18, just in case that shows what caused the bug.
Since version 1.48.16 there should be an option for this new feature in the menu:
"Options->Game options->Tired Run"
In the config file you likely want:
I have overlooked this too, but it is listed in the changelog:
https://doomlegacy.sourceforge.net/docs/whatsnew.html
Okay, now it's a different kind of weird. Is this tired run feature on by default?
All I did was drag the config file from the one I set up for the older version of Doom Legacy I had years ago, so that of course didn't specifically turn it off.
This default is going to be especially egregious because every time I boot Doom Legacy, it always resets my config path to my user directory on my internal SSD (C:) too.
There is a new announce window that reduces the need to make new legacy features default on.
I am also considering other ways to reduce the conflict between expecting vanilla behavior, and features of DoomLegacy. Just defaulting everything to vanilla would of course nerf DoomLegacy to always be vanilla for most users.
That is a better solution.
It's not like I expect the pure vanilla experience(I already have Chocolate Doom). I like Doom Legacy's other features, especially visual, modding, and mapping features, just not this particular one.
