That is a feature. Use the "-' (minus) and "=" (plus) keys to change the screen size and the status bar. There is also a menu item to control the status bar size.
Use the menu to check the controls, to make sure that the operations you want have keys mapped to them.

Seems to me, that you are making a "feature request", as those things are not displayed for the HUD status overlay by design choice. I do not yet know why they decided not to include them, but there is usually some reason.
It helps if you don't make me guess as to what problem you encountered.

Then it's better to move it to"feature request". I just thought in this mode hud ammo, armor, keys are already made but not displayed. Sorry if I was wrong. If anything, I can try to draw icons for them.

I could not find a way to move it to feature requests.
At first I thought that you had just switched the overlay status and did not know how to change them. Later, I went back and played it to make sure all the status bars were there. Later yet, I went back and checked the status code against what was seen, and then realized that the HUD overlay code does not display ammo and armor, and that is probably what you were pointing out.
No icons are needed, it would just be numbers, and the key symbols.
It would be confusing with 3 sets of numbers and not knowing which is which.
This would require some thought.

I tested Heretic today on DL. Started a two-player game in split-screen with two controllers.
On that case, unfortunately changing screen size with + and - won't work, since there's no full HUD for two players, but only three numeric indicators instead: Health, Ammo and Armor.
Analyzing from this angle, I'd say it's still a bug, so there's no need to move it to "Feature requests" section.
