this is a feature not a bug.
i think of definition and option lists as latex-description not as a table
and the description allows to continue on the same line. i like this more
for short texts for longer definitions it does no harm to have an extra
line break. must think about it.

this seams to be a generic latex problem, i tried several directions but
without luck up to now.
