Hi all, using a mix of paragraphs and one-liners in reST, I got some unexpected results. Number points followed by several lines are treated as paragraphs, while number points (continuing the paragraph number point range) followed by one line are treated as list elements. Is this the way it should be? If so it possible to make reST treat all points as list elements? reST: 1. Sosisalisering er læringsprosessen vi går igjennom for å bli i stand til å fungere i samfunnet. Vi lærer å samhandle innenfor de samfunnsmessige og kulturelle rammene. 2. Please try reinstalling from <http://docutils.sf.net/docutils-snapshot.tgz>. If there's still a problem, please supply a literal transcript of the *exact* command you ran, and the *exact* output. Use the "--traceback" option to get a complete picture. See <http://docutils.sf.net/BUGS.html>. -- David Goodger <http://python.net/~goodger> |

Hi, I am new to Restructured text and learning my way through it. I was not able to understand how i would be saving after i make the restructured text. I work in Mac and when i make the restructured text file, i tried saving it as .html but it did not work. Can someone guide me through the process Thanks, Gowri Sivaraman |

Can someone guide > me through the process You'll want to save the file with a .txt extension. Some people like to use .rst, but I recommend .txt because your computer already knows what that means -- double click on a .txt file, and it will open in TextEdit. To make an HTML file, you must already have Docutils installed. Use the rst2html.py program, which is part of Docutils. Open a shell (use Terminal), and run this command: rst2html.py myfile.txt myfile.html (Replace "myfile" with the name of your file.) If you're not familiar with the terms I used, you'll need more basic instructions. Let us know. -- David Goodger <http://python.net/~goodger> |

Can someone > guide me through the process You save the file as a 'text' file (usually with a '.txt' extension). *Some* people prefer a '.rst' extension, but a file markup up with ReST *is* text, so '.txt' is logical. You can then use the script 'buildhtml.py,' which comes with docutils, to turn your text files into html. buildhtml looks for files with a '.txt' extension - so it's sensible to use that. See http://docutils.sourceforge.net/docs/user/tools.html#buildhtml-py Alternatively, you can use rst2html.py for doing individual files (in which case file extension doesn't matter). Hello! There is a question: is it possible to use inline latex arrays ('array' environment) with the :math: role, or arrays can only be presented in separate block with math directive? I'm not subscribed. Lukashevichus K. |

The follwing works for me: :math:`\begin{matrix} 1 & \cos x \\ -\sin x & 1 \end{matrix}`. Mind, that you must follow the rST syntax for inline content, though, i.e. formatting like:: :math:`\begin{matrix} 1 & \cos x \\ -\sin x & 1 \end{matrix}`. will not work. Günter |
