Hello,

i'd like to see the opportunity to add filters like in swish-e. This is, because I'd like to search Exif data and/or parts of xml-files.

Nice app :-)

Searching in Exif data would be a nice feature indeed. However I can't see the practical benefits of being able to search in parts of XML files. Could you please give me an example of a typical use case for that? And please keep in mind that this application was meant for the average computer user, not for uber-geeks ;)

    Best Regards

P.S.: Since I'm quite busy right now, it's probably gonna take a lot of time till next release (that is, unless someone wants to help me).

Hi, and thank you for your program, it looks great, and much easier to control than Microsoft Desktop Search!

In response to this request, I don't know how to do this myself, but there seem to be people who have already got EXIF information out of files using java.

    Two such projects are here:
    http://sourceforge.net/projects/jexifviewer/
    http://www.rahulbotics.com/personal-projects/exif-o-matic/

Could they help, and save you having to write it yourself?

The problem is not a technical one. I'm sure the technical side of it is relatively easy. The main question is, how many people would find this feature useful? Are there a lot of people who need to search in EXIF data?

Images usually contain their captions, authors, photographers, location, etc, in their EXIF data. A picture name (IMG_123456.JPG) doesn't really say much about the picture, while search through the EXIF (or IPTC or XMP) fields would return all the important metadata.
