Bugs item #722775, was opened at 2003-04-17 07:00 Message generated for change (Settings changed) made by xmldoc You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=373747&aid=722775&group_id=21935 Category: DocBook XSL >Group: All output formats Status: Open Resolution: None Priority: 3 Submitted By: Alastair Rankine (alastair) Assigned to: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Summary: More readable processing of <simplelist type="inline Initial Comment: Consider the following <para>Up rode the troopers, <simplelist type="inline"> <member>one</member> <member>two</member> <member>three</member> </simplelist>.</para> This gets rendered by the XSL stylesheets as: Up rode the troopers, one, two, three. Instead it would be great to produce the more readable (but perhaps less poetic :) Up rode the troopers, one, two, and three. I guess there are alternatives to "and" here, depending on the type of list. ie if it's a list of alternatives "or" may be the desired meaning. Maybe this would require some DTD change to indicate whether it is an "and" list or an "or" list (or some other type?) BTW A really good technical writing style guide is Lyn Dupre's _Bugs In Writing_. Other issues to do with lists are raised in this book, for example use semicolons as separators if you have commas inside each item. Maybe another possibility for the stylesheets? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=373747&aid=722775&group_id=21935 |
