#8 board hangs on power cycle or reset with dmx-slave sketch.

hi there, i am trying to use the dmx_slave sketch which works, however when i try to reset the arduino or hard power cycle it while an active dmx network is plugged in the board stops responding unless i either disconnect it from the active dmx network , or pull the jumper to disengage the shield.

is there something i am missing? is this a hardware problem? i managed to get it to upload with uart / en jumpers disabled but in that config it refuses to respond to dmx. please help obi-wan !

we used arduino 1.0.6 and 1.6.9 i believe ,. arduino mega 2560
